Dear Friend:

You have shown great concern for your soul.  Remember Jesus said:

"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"     Mark 8:36

God loves you and wants you to spend eternity in Heaven with Him.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"     John 3:16

First, you must realize that everyone is a sinner:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"     Romans 3:23

We are all sinners by nature and choice.

Secondly, realize there is a price on sin that must be paid:

Our good works cannot pay that price or get us to heaven.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." 
 Romans 6:23

The Bible mentions two kinds of death, physical and spiritual.  One day each of us will die, but a person that dies unforgiven will also experience spiritual death - eternity in hell.   (Revelation 20:14, Titus 3:5)

Thirdly, realize Jesus Christ died to pay your price:

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."   Romans 5:8

God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for us.  When Jesus died on the cross, He took upon Himself every sin that you and I would ever commit and suffered death and hell for us.  They buried Jesus, but he arose and conquered death and hell for us.

Finally, you must personally choose to receive Jesus by faith as your only way to Heaven:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."   Romans 10: 9,13

Just as you have a physical birthday and birthplace, you must have a definite time and place to ask Jesus and Him alone to save you.  This then becomes your spiritual birthday and birthplace.

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name"
John 1:12

If you understand these facts and want to go to Heaven, you can!  Simply pray a prayer like this one from your heart and with your lips:

"Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and that the penalty for sin is death and hell.  I understand that your shed blood on the cross of Calvary paid all the price for my sin. I am asking you to forgive me of my  sin and to take me to heaven someday when I die.  I'm trusting you Lord and you alone to save me today.  Thank you for saving me.  Help me to live the rest of my life learning to obey you and your Bible. Amen"
